SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

Hi all,

As you will most likely have seen the dates for the 2010 Nationals has been announced (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5045). Last year, mainly due to transport problems to Cape Town, there was no representation from KZN so with it being in Gauteng this year it would be nice if we can get a goodly-sized group of people up-country to show our stuff.

Keeping in mind that flying to Joburg will not be feasible with airsoft equipment in tow, I would like to try and get some transport arrangements coordinated for anyone who wants to go. Personally I am able to carry myself plus one other person comfortably (with all related airsoft equipment). Alternatively I can transport equipment for anyone who wants to fly up.

Have a look at the original Nationals post (linked above) for dates, costs, etc, and then please post here with any info or suggestions. If you can help with transport, or would like to go and don't have transport, please also let us know.

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

I'll probably be needing a lift. My car is a company vehicle so i'm not able to use it for long distance. I'll split petrol cost obviously. I'll still find out how much a flight we be though. If its a cheaper option then I'll just need my gear taken up.

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

I'm in!!

I can transport 4 people plus gear in comfort, in my wife's car (Peugeot 307 SW). Petrol cost plus toll fees will probably be in teh region of R 1200.00 (don't quote me on that!).

If that is the case it is R 300.00 transport plus the R 400.00 entry fee.

Let me know - first come, first served!

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

Depending on how many people are needing transport, I may take you up on that Steve. Alternatively I can provide an additional vehicle if the numbers require it.

Can we have a show of "hands" of who is interested in going to Nationals? We can also chat about this at our next meeting, although we will be getting quite close to the actual event by that stage. Once we have an idea of numbers then it will be easier to work out final transport arrangements. Just keep in mind the deadline for submissions, which is August 30th.

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

Ok looks like going by car will be a lot cheaper than a flight. Best i could find is about R700 there and back. So Stephen I'll take a lift with you if thats ok? When do you plan on going up? I'm sure i could get the friday off and maybe the monday.

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

I'm planning on taking off 4-5 days altogether (partly to let my back recover before going back to work :-|). I would suggest that we aim to head up on Thursday evening or very early Friday morning; the intention being to have a good look at the venue on the Friday before everything starts.

I'm also talking to to Jean (Seventy9) about the tent arrangements. They currently have four 4-man dome tents and are looking at getting a 5x5m army tent too, depending on requirements.

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

I would plan on going up on Friday morning and returning Sunday evening, so as not to lose too much leave - I have EMASA on 23-26th already in September.

Early on the friday sounds good. Just need a couple more passengers to share the cost!

Hi, Brett
So far it's you, Grant and me, and I think Josh is keen as well.

No word yet from Steve and the others...

I've put the word out on the ECOD Facebook page, so hopefully it should cover a few of the people who aren't regulars on this forum.

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

Hi Guys.

Thank you for the reply. I am really keen to go, but I am worried that I might not have my full kit for the event (camo clothing, ect...). Is this a problem?

Also, if anybody still has room for a lift, I would appreciate it, otherwise I just need to make arrangements.

Thanx

E

Re: SAAPA Nationals 2010 (Gauteng)

You don't have to have a camo uniform -- just hard-wearing clothes that you don't mind getting dirty (much like a normal airsoft day). It is two days of play though, so you'd need to take enough stuff to last that long. But you still have time to get stuff if you need to. You can try Kings if you are looking around locally -- they have a kind of Realtree-type camo that is quite nice ("Sniper" brand, I think it is -- I've been thinking about getting some myself actually).

Transport won't be a problem. Steve says that his car will take four, and so far there are three of us going. If more people decide to go then I can add my car and we'll have capacity for six plus luggage.
